The SURriculum is a five-step personal inventory to discover one’s purpose without making life a goal to be achieved, but an artistic game to be played.
We are a spiritual community in L.A. devoted to the teachings of our teacher SUR, author of the spiritual manual to living an authentic life through play
We’ve lived and SURved together for nearly forty years, and are just now bringing our communal art project to the world with the help of Ben St. Clair from HBO’s High Maintenance and his Substack Low Maintenance.
We trust Ben’s intentions to represent our community. SUR himself approved the poetic license he’s taking in this video to bring awareness to the teachings, mischievous as they may be. The content is as real fake as it gets.
Substack co-founder Hamish McKenzie even expressed interest in funding our show.
Subscribe to SUR if you’ve ever found yourself feeling like a fraud, because “getting found out is the happy ending to this ridiculous little story.”
In the words of SUR, “We’re all just real fakes. And that’s a good thing.”
Featuring “Keep It Simple”

performed by Eisur
I don’t know what I’m doing
I don’t know what to say
Gotta make a move
Gotta find a way
Now I’m stuck in my head again
Gotta be here now
Will you show me how?
Just gotta keep it simple
Let it go
You just gotta keep it simple
Let It Go
Cause Whenever you keep it simple it‘ll show
But it’s never really ever that simple
Is it though?
La la la la la la…
Owned by my possessions
I could throw them all away
But i keep hanging on
Guess i’m not that strong
And now I’m stuck in my head again
Gotta be here now
Will you show me how?
Just gotta keep it simple
Let it go
You just gotta keep it simple
Let It Go
Cause Whenever you keep it simple it‘ll show
But it’s never really ever that simple
Is it though?
La la la…
